Hello best life seekers!
Does your life feel off-kilter or like it’s missing something? Are you frustrated by the way things are going professionally and personally? When the alarm goes off Monday morning, do you feel like you’re getting up only to serve time in prison?
If this is you, your vitality or health is probably pretty shaky. Maybe you’re depressed or suffering anxiety too.
Key question, best life seekers: Are you living a life true to yourself?
The Vitality Well
A survey of the dying found that the most common regret was lacking the courage to live true to themselves but living the life others expected of them.
This was the most common regret! Think about it a second. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, how many dreams have gone unfulfilled? Most people have not honored even half of their dreams and have to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.
It is very important to try and honor at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it’s too late. Health brings a freedom very few realize, until they no longer have it.
There are few things more soul sucking than living other people’s ideas about this existence and ignoring our own. In the first place, their ideas don’t suit our inner needs and natures and secondly, those ideas may be flawed, unreasonably idealistic or unobtainable. Then we beat ourselves up, wondering while we’re failing at these impossible expectations we’ve adopted. And we wonder why we feel trapped and like we’re living in a cage!
This is not living true to yourself and it’s certainly not living your best life now. What it is though is a recipe for depression, anxiety, heartburn and illness.
Happiness, fulfillment, joy and meaning come from pursuing YOUR ideas, YOUR dreams. When we stand on our own two feet and face the world the way our inner nature requires, we become strong, empowered, motivated and free. Even if things don’t go exactly as we planned, we won’t have the burden of regrets at the end of our lives. We will have satisfaction at a life fully lived.
Look around you, best life seekers. How many of your colleagues are half asleep, drained, cranky or just half-assing it? If you see this, you’re not seeing someone living their vision. Look at the people with energy and vitality and drive, the people laughing and grabbing life by the horns. Do you think they hold themselves back from following their inner nature?
When you follow your inner voice and go after your dreams, you throw off the weight of enormous shackles that held you down. You feel alive, invigorated and full of purpose.
Nothing in this world is certain – not for the person sitting in the corner playing it safe and not for the person grabbing life with both hands and feet. The ceiling can fall on both. Which life would you rather be living if it does?
Listen to the wisdom of the dying. Be courageous and live true to yourself.
